KARLA VICTORIA RODRÍGUEZ Guadalajara / 03/22/2022 9:34:11 PM The Association of Industrial Parks of the State of Jalisco (APIEJ) had an absorption growth of 38 percent from 2020 to 2021 due to national and foreign investments, which generated an economic spillover worth around 151 million dollars per contract. “Thanks to 601 thousand square meters that were absorbed in 2021, which is as far as we have accounted for, and this is mainly thanks to the logistics sector, and as a result of 2020, the change in consumer habits came about thanks to the pandemic, the birth of last mile industrial parks, which is what this is, does not refer mainly to an issue that has to be a mile away, but rather the last mile means immediate distribution to every final consumer who orders from e-Commerce; These consumer habits have caused an upturn in the absorption of industrial warehouses since the pandemic,” said Javier Lemarroy Mendoza, general director of APIEJ. Lemarroy Mendoza pointed out that due to the growth indicators of the sector, they are ranked third nationwide, just after Mexico City and Monterrey; and they currently have an investment of more than 2.9 billion dollars in nearly 4 million square meters built on 2,809 hectares in different regions of the state. Within the 48 APIEJ industrial parks that are concentrated in different strategic points on the outskirts of the metropolitan area of Guadalajara, there are no security problems because they are connected to the C5; however, where merchandise thefts have occurred are in some routes that are already pre-identified, in which they seek a protection agreement with the prosecutor’s office and the state government. “The problem is in the transfer and above all it is very determined in certain areas, we have perfectly well detected it, they are the exit zones towards Michoacán and towards Zacatecas where the poles are, I would dare to say difficult that are not totally controlled,” said Jorge Enrique Suárez Navarro, president of APIEJ.
