Guadalajara, Mexico (September 6, 2022).- As part of the process of drafting the Real Estate Law that is being carried out in the Congress of Jalisco, representatives of the real estate and construction sectors held a meeting with the MC deputy Gabriela Cárdenas to “fine-tune” the project.
The legislator explained that the meeting was attended by the National Chamber of the Housing Development and Promotion Industry (Canadevi), the Mexican Chamber of the Construction Industry (CMIC), the Mexican Association of Real Estate Professionals (AMPI), and the Secretariat of Economic Development.
“We met with the aim of proposing a comprehensive reform, not only the creation of the Real Estate Law, but also to carry out this analysis of what other laws we have to reform in order to continue protecting the end consumer in real estate and construction matters,” said Cárdenas.
“Not only those who sell, rent, advise; but those who build, detonate, those who are in some way part of this production chain, what we are looking for is how to close ranks towards a market that is honest and ethical,” he added.
The draft Real Estate Law, which is expected to be voted on this month by the Congress’s Competitiveness Committee, aims to establish a State Real Estate Registry that citizens can consult. In order to be part of it, real estate agents will need to be accredited by the Ministry of Economic Development.
“There is a lot of willingness (from the real estate and construction sector), everyone believes that it is essential that we close ranks, and what we are doing is emptying out those specific proposals that should happen, in order to be able to take a step forward and make a manifesto for the entire real estate and construction sector, what we have to do to send that message to the end consumer of what is ideal,” said the MC deputy.
“We are going to propose a team-based awareness campaign, from all areas, to seek to get companies to adhere to the Pro Integrity Distinction already offered by the Secretariat of Economic Development; we are going to propose tax incentives for each of the unions, which will be a tailor-made suit that seeks to support taking that step forward.”
